Officers stopped a car with darkly tinted windows on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. on Saugatuck Avenue near Ferry Lane, police said. The officer stopping the car smelled marijuana coming from inside, according to police. The driver, identified as 29-year-old Supreme Harmon of Norwalk, denied having drugs in the car, so a K-9 unit was called to the scene, police said.

As the officer and K-9 Koda searched the car, police said the officer located a white glassine fold in the spot where Harmon was standing. The fold was consistent with the packaging for heroin, police said. Police also found marijuana under the passenger seat.

Police also found a clear plastic baggy that Harmon had hid inside his rectum, according to police. The baggy contained 3.9 grams of heroin, as well as 17 glassine folds of heroin weighing a total of 5.6 grams, according to police.

Harmon was charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance. He was also issued an infraction for operating a motor vehicle with a permit and not having a proper licensed operator inside, police said. He was released on $10,000 bond and will appear in court on May 17.
