Victim In September Stabbing Dies; Ruled Bridgeport's 15th Homicide Of Year

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The victim in a Sept. 1 stabbing in Bridgeport died of complications of his injuries on Thursday, Oct. 22, making him the city's 15th homicide of the year, police said.

Bridgeport police said the death Thursday of a stabbing victim from a Sept. 1 incident makes the crime a homicide. Anyone with information should call (203) 581-5201.

Police are actively investigating the death.

Erick Lopez, 32, of Bridgeport, died at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday as a result of complications from stab wound to the chest, police said.

Police are looking to talk to anyone who has information about the Sept. 1 incident. At about 10 p.m. that night, police were flagged down to the area of Fairfield Avenue near Howard Avenue.

They found Lopez unresponsive with a stab wound to the chest. He was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport.
