Police said that a total of nine cars were affected. Two were stolen, while the other seven were rummaged through and had personal items stolen. All the vehicles were unlocked when they were entered, police said.

The two cars that were stolen were a 2013 Toyota and a 2005 Honda, both of which were later recovered in the north end of Bridgeport, police said. In addition to the stolen cars, purses, credit cards and other property were taken from the unlocked cars.

Police said they have linked the thefts to a group of juveniles who are moving from town to town and through different neighborhoods overnight, avoiding police patrols. Residents are urged to always lock their cars when they are parked outside, and to cal police to report any suspicious activity, especially in the overnight hours.
