BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Alcohol and speed played a factor in an early morning car crash on North Washington Avenue Tuesday that sent three Bridgeport residents to the hospital, according to city Communications Director Rowena White.
Paulo Lumfuakiadi, 26, of Wheeler Avenue, was driving a grey 2009 BMW 3281 south on North Washington around 1 a.m. when he crashed into a utility pole near the city’s Emergency Operations Center, White said. He suffered a broken left leg and broken ankle and was listed in stable condition Tuesday afternoon at St. Vincent's Medical Center, she said.
A 30-year-old woman riding in the back seat was ejected from the car and admitted to the same hospital with a pelvic fracture and a fractured left femur, White said.
Another passenger, a 29-year-old woman, was treated and released.
The Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
