BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Even as Bridgeport Police Chief Armando Perez said there was little hope that a man who fell from a raft Sunday into Long Island Sound would be found alive, the search for him continued Monday afternoon, according to the Connecticut Post.

U.S. Coast Guard crews were out on the water in the search for Shigemune Mori, 32, who was last seen Sunday in the water with no life jacket, the Post said.

Another man who was on the 14-foot inflatable raft with Mori had managed to swim safely to shore after it capsized off Seaside Park on Sunday afternoon, under windy conditions, the Post said.

Members of U.S.Coast Guard Station New Haven had been involved in the search with the Bridgeport Police Department, Fairfield Police Department, Suffolk County Police Department, Stratford Fire Department and U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Official Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound Command Center at 203-468-4401.
