The incident began at about 2:38 p.m. Thursday, June 22, Trumbull police said, with a report of an attempted carjacking at Twin Brooks Park off White Plains Road.

The 69-year-old victim told police he was seated in his car in the park when a “young male” came up to his door, opened it and pointed a handgun at him.

The male ordered the victim out of his car and began pulling on his shirt, police said. The male victim refused to get out of the car and the suspect then gave up, police said.

Witnesses and the victim saw the suspect flee in an older model grayish-green car, which sped away toward Beaches Pool, police said.

About 20 minutes later, Fairfield Police received a report of an attempted robbery in the North End of their town on Easton Turnpike.

A Fairfield officer located and stopped an older model green Honda leaving the area with two males inside, police said.

Both the driver, 19-year-old Geraldo Coelho of Bridgeport, and a 17-year-old Bridgeport juvenile passenger were arrested after a BB gun was located in the car, police said.

An investigation led by Fairfield detectives determined that both males were involved in the Trumbull carjacking attempt as well, police said.

Trumbull detectives were obtaining arrest warrants for both, police said.
