At 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, troopers from Troop A in Southbury were northbound on Route 7 when a motorcycle approached in the left lane at a high rate of speed, state police said.

Upon seeing the state police cruisers, the motorcyclist slowed to 35 mph and would not pass the cruisers, police said.

Troopers pulled the motorcycle over near Exit 12 in Brookfield, state police said.

During the motor vehicle stop, troopers found the driver was in possession of illegal weapons, state police said.

A search of the motorcycle turned up a knife and a small bat with spike strips at the end that appeared to be a bludgeoning weapon, state police said.

Domingos Reis, 49, of Danbury, was taken into custody and transported to Troop A, where he was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle and several motor vehicle infractions.

He was released after posting $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear at Danbury superior court on May 5.
