At around 10:30 p.m. Monday, police received reports of a domestic incident at 158 Beechwood Ave. that led to a structure fire, according to city spokesperson Av Harris.

The occupants of the first floor heard a smoke alarm going off on the third floor and got out of the building. That's when they saw smoke coming from the third floor, Harris said. When firefighters arrived on scene, all the occupants were out of the house. The second floor was vacant.

One person was taken to the  hospital for smoke inhalation, Harris said. A total of four engines, two ladders, one safety officer and the assistant chief responded to the scene. The Red Cross was also notified to assist with the eight people who were displaced.

The fire was contained to the third floor of the building. The case of the fire is currently under investigation.
