On Saturday, Sept. 30, a trooper pulled over a 2017 Chevrolet Cruz near exit 21 on I-95 northbound after spotting it driving over 70 mph, the Connecticut Post reported. After a K-9 indicated that there was something in the trunk, the driver consented to allow police to search it, according to the Connecticut Post.

Inside the trunk, police found the 5.5 kilograms of fentanyl, worth about $6 million, according to the Connecticut Post.

The two occupants of the car, 19-year-old Isaiah Roman of Providence, R.I. and 21-year-old Arianna Spencer of Cranston, R.I., were both charged with sale of narcotics and possession of narcotics, according to the Connecticut Post.

This is the third time in the past year that police have found shipments of fentanyl worth millions of dollars, according to the Connecticut Post. The Nutmeg state has become a thoroughfare for transporting fentanyl from New York and Rhode Island to northern states, the Connecticut Post reported.
