The victim, who was not identified, was declared dead at the scene of the shooting, near an AutoZone and a Popeye's, according to NBC 30.

The victim of the 12:30 a.m. Christmas Eve shooting was not identified. It was the 10th homicide this year in Bridgeport.

This is the second year in a row that Bridgeport has seen a murder on Christmas Eve. On Dec. 24, 2015, 14-year-old Luis Colon was shot to death as he walked past a group of people outside a barber shop on State Street at about 4 p.m. A gunman identified as Michael Majors opened fire on the group, hitting Colon in the chest, police said. Colon, a freshman at Bassick High School, was an innocent bystander on his way to the store, police said.

Anyone with information on the shooting death early Saturday is asked to contact Bridgeport police at 203-576-TIPS (8477).
