"Does not look good for him," Harris said shortly after the shooting at 7:17 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Just Right Cutz at 500 Park Ave. During the overnight, Harris confirmed that the man had died.

Two armed men went to the barbershop and started an altercation that left Deon Rodney, 32, shot in the abdomen, he said.

Rodney was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where he died, Harris said.

"The motive for the shooting is still unknown and it is not clear if Rodney was the intended target," Harris said.

This is the city’s 22nd homicide of the year, and the second in the past week.

Police detectives were on the scene late Saturday and "pursuing a suspect," Harris said.

The victim told officers he was shot by a male dressed all in black, with a black ski mask over his face, according to the Connecticut Post. The suspect fled south on Park Avenue, the Post said.

Anyone with information should call Detective Heanue at 203-581-5242 or call 203-576-TIPS.

On Wednesday afternoon, 18-year-old Jeri Kollock was shot to death during a robbery in the stairwell of Building 1 of the Green Homes housing complex in Bridgeport. He had been forced to strip naked and remove his jewelry before he was shot seven times, police said.

After he was shot, Kollock fled down the stairs to the basement, where he collapsed, police said. He managed to drag himself to the door over the next 45 minutes, where he emerged yelling for help. However, he died before medical help could arrive, police said.
