BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Stamford man was charged with shooting the estranged husband of his girlfriend during a confrontation in Bridgeport last month, according to the Connecticut Post.

The shooting took place in a parking lot on Ellsworth Street in Bridgeport on Sept. 1, according to the Connecticut Post. The girlfriend told police that she believed her estranged husband was stalking her, and that he had planted a GPS tracking device in her car and phone, the Connecticut Post reported.

She said the night of the shooting, the husband jumped out of bushes and confronted both her and her new boyfriend, identified as 31-year-old Anthony Dixon of Stamford, according to the Connecticut Post. At that point Dixon shot the husband, police told the Connecticut Post. He and the girlfriend helped put the husband in her car, according to the Connecticut Post.

When police spoke with the husband while he was being treated at St. Vincent's Medical Center, he said that Dixon had shot him, and denied planting any tracking devices, according to the Connecticut Post.

A warrant was issued for Dixon's arrest, and he was charged on Thursday with first-degree assault, unlawful discharge and criminal possession of a firearm, and released on a $100,000 bond, according to the Connecticut Post.
