At 2:30 p.m., officers were called to 119 Forest St. after a man kicked a U.S. Postal Service truck after a confrontation with the 56-year-old postal employee driver who had refused several times to lend the man her cellphone, police said.
The man, identified as Daniel Joyner, 25, of 50 Ridgefield Ave., Bridgeport, fled on his bicycle, police said. At 2:55 p.m., he spit at a 28-year-old female diner outside Bobby Valentine's Restaurant at 10 Main St. after she refused to lend him her cellphone, police said.
He fled again on his bicycle, riding to his ex-girlfriend's house on Hinckley Avenue, where he attempted to gain entry via a locked side door, police said.
A 2-year-old girl inside thought her older sister had arrived home and unlocked the door, police said. Joyner forcefully pushed the door open, knocking the toddler to the floor, police said.
Joyner continued into the home, where he was confronted by an 18-year-old woman who told him to leave, police said.
He pushed the woman aside and walked throughout the house and into the kitchen, police said. In the kitchen, Joyner was confronted by a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, police said.
Joyner then punched the 20-year-old in the face and they began to fight, police said. The two gained the upper hand and held Joyner down in the driveway until officers arrived, police said.
Both complainants from the cellphone incidents were taken to Hinckley Avenue, where they positively identified Joyner as the suspect, police said.
Joyner is facing charges of home invasion, second-degree burglary, risk of injury to a minor, two counts of third-degree assault and two counts of breach of peace. His bond was set at $75,000.
