Officers from the Westport Police Department were dispatched to the store at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, following a report from a loss prevention agent who had Darryl Hall, 53, in custody.
Police said that the agent spotted Hall attempt to conceal the silverware inside his jacket before exiting the store without paying. He was stopped outside by the loss prevention agent and law enforcement was contacted.
Hall was arrested at the scene and charged with sixth-degree larceny. Following arraignment, he was released on $500 bail and is due back in Norwalk Court on Feb. 14 to answer the charge.
