On Oct. 24, a woman stole more than $300 in clothing from a downtown merchant.

A second woman, later identified as Kathy Deacon, 65, of Cardinal Road, Hyde Park, returned the stolen items to the store and received a gift card for their value, police said.

Police sought a warrant for Deacon’s arrest and she was charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, police said.

She was released after posting a $25,000 court-set bond. She is scheduled to appear in Norwalk court on Feb. 2.
