Emmanuel Thiersaint, 35, of Stamford; Dennis Tolliver, 36, of Stamford; Everett Goethe, 32, of Bridgeport; and Clerde Pierre, 36, of Stamford, were each charged with second-degree criminal trespassing. Thiersaint also was charged with criminal violation of a protective order. Each was held on $10,000 bond and will appear in court Dec. 26.

Officers responded to Commerce Street at 1:26 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a motor vehicle break-in, police said. A resident told officers she had seen the four men trying to gain access to a car owned by her neighbor. Her neighbor didn't want to go out and confront them, so she did, police said. When the men wouldn't respond to her, she went back inside and called the police.

Offices arrived and saw three of the men sitting inside a white Toyota and a fourth, Goethe, standing outside. As officers approached, Goethe started walking away, police said. He was told to stop twice before eventually being detained, police said.

As officers spoke to Goethe, he refused to answer questions and looked like he was getting ready to run, according to police reports. He was then handcuffed, police said.

Goethe told police that he was there to visit his girlfriend, but did not give a full name. The other three men were detained as well. When officers determined that none of them lived there and that they all had criminal histories, they were taken into custody, police said. Police said Thiersaint also had an active warrant out for violation of a protective order.
