Alex Saez of Yale Street was charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree larceny. Police said he entered a Fairfield resident’s garage and stole a Trek Bicycle valued at $1,100.

The homeowner said that at about 7:25 a.m. Sept. 17 she heard someone rummaging through the garage and assumed it was a contractor, police said. But when she walked out to the garage, the back door was open and her husband's bike was gone, police said.

Officers were able to locate the Trek bike at Downtown Pawn on North Avenue in Bridgeport, and the item was returned to the owner, police said.

Saez used his own identification to pawn the bicycle, giving officers an easy identification, police said.

Saez was held at police headquarters on $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 3.
