Loss prevention officers at the Tunxis Hill Road store said they watched Brandi Soares, 20, of Madison Avenue, bring her handbag and several items into a fitting room, only to come out a few minutes later with just the bag, police said.

Store employees confronted Soares after she tried to leave the store without paying for the goods, police said.

An inspection of her bag uncovered three pair of sandals, junior sleepwear, three tops, a blazer, slippers, flip flops and two hats valued at $323.97 total, police said.

She was charged with sixth-degree larceny and is scheduled to appear in court on May 23.
