NORWALK, Conn. – A women was fighting for her life Monday evening after being shot six times by her former fiancée, a former Bridgeport police detective, authorities told News 12.
The suspected shooter was identified as Billy Chase, a once prominent undercover Bridgeport police detective famous for infiltrating organized crime rings in the 1980s and 1990s, according to News 12, which reported that Chase shot himself after firing on Lynn Herriott as she walked to her car in Jacksonville, Florida, on Thursday, June 16.
Chase was said to be in critical condition Monday evening, according to News 12.
Prior to Thursday’s attack, Herriott had filed three separate restraining orders against Chase related to accusations of domestic violence, according to News 12.
