The Easton Police Department took part in the investigation of Christopher Barlow, who was arrested Monday and charged with illegal possession of a firearm, impersonating a police officer and possession or control of an incendiary device or material.

Barlow was arraigned Tuesday and held on $250,000 bond, police said.

"The Easton Police Department has been working with the Duxbury Police Department in regards to the suspect Barlow," said a statement from Easton Police Chief Timothy Shaw. "Easton Police currently have an open investigation on Barlow."

Shaw said there will be no further comment until the investigation is completed.

Duxbury police said they obtained search and arrest warrants for Barlow after a long investigation. Barlow also possessed fraudulent identification that made it appear that he was a law enforcement officer and that he had purchased the parts to make several firearms, Duxbury police said.

The identification and firearms were recovered during the search of his home, police said.

Barlow is the first person to take part in the college live-in program at the Easton EMS, according to the Easton Courier.

He served as an EMT for the Brewster Ambulance Service in Massachusetts and hopes to become an emergency room doctor, the Courier reported.

He lived in the Easton Volunteer Emergency Medical Service building in town during the winter semester in exchange for working the midnight to 7 a.m. shift, the Easton Courier said.

CBS Boston said Barlow’s parents took a gun that their son had made to police. When Barlow tried to retrieve it, he used a fake Homeland Security ID, CBS Boston said.

He showed a Homeland Security ID and indicated he worked for Homeland Security, prosecutor Elizabeth Mello told CBS Boston.

The investigation of Barlow was carried out with help from the Easton Police Department, Connecticut State Police, U.S. Homeland Security, the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Massachusetts State Police.
