Drones To Conduct Traffic Study On Black Rock Turnpike In Fairfield Today

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- There will drones in the area of Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield on Wednesday afternoon conducting a traffic study.

Seven drones will conduct a traffic study on Black Rock Turnpike between Samp Mortar Drive and Tunxis Hill Cutoff on Wednesday afternoon.

Between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m., a transportation planner and engineering firm will be conducting a traffic study on the Black Rock Turnpike business corridor. There will be seven commercial drones launched from three different locations between Samp Mortar Drive and Tunxis Hill Cutoff.

The seven drones will fly simultaneously for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Pilots will operate along the edge of the road, within the right-of-way. The Fairfield Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit will be on site during this time.
