The man, who has a valid carry permit, was eating dinner with family at about 8:30 p.m. when he accidentally discharged the firearm he was carrying, police said.
The casing got stuck in the gun and the bullet lodged in the floor, police said.
Other patrons didn’t seem to notice that the gun had gone off, police said. Some diners thought someone had simply dropped something, police said.
The man was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
His gun and permit were seized and Fairfield police have applied for a warrant for unlawful discharge of a firearm, police said.
