Death Of Baby Boy In Bridgeport Ruled A Homicide

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The death of a male infant who was unresponsive at the Greene Homes in Bridgeport has been ruled a homicide, police said in a statement late Thursday.

At 11:15 a.m. Monday, April 24, Bridgeport police responded to Building 3 of the Greene Homes on a report of an unresponsive baby, Capt. Brian Fitzgerald said in a statement. 

The infant was transported by medics to Bridgeport Hospital, then transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital for advanced care, Fitzgerald said. The baby died on Tuesday, April 25. 

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Wednesday and classified the death as a homicide, he said. 

The investigation is ongoing, and detectives continue to process evidence and interview witnesses, Fitzgerald said. 

The victim's identity was not released due to his age. 

This was the eighth homicide of the year in the City of Bridgeport.
