City Releases More Details In Horrific Fatal Two-Car Crash In Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The City of Bridgeport has identified the four people who survived a fatal two-car crash Tuesday, most of whom are still in the hospital.

Pedestrian Shylane Michelle Crooks, 50, of Bridgeport, was killed in the crash on Huntington Turnpike near the corner of Priscilla Street, according to Police Capt. Robert Evans.

She was struck by a 2017 BMW driven by Marie Tufaro, 41, of Trumbull, who was listed in stable condition Wednesday at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, according to city spokesman Av Harris.

After striking Crooks, the BMW veered to the right and struck a tree and a 2004 Honda CRV that was exiting a gas station, Evans said.

The driver of the Honda, Brenda Cruz, 42, of Bridgeport, is in the intensive care unit at St. Vincent’s. A passenger, Lisette Andino, 54, was admitted to St. Vincent’s. A second passenger, Andre Cruz Mendoza, 40, of Bridgeport, was treated and released, Harris said.

Members of the Southern Fairfield County Traffic Unit assisted Bridgeport at the crash scene.

The Bridgeport Serious Crash Investigation Team is conducting a full investigation with Bridgeport Officer Michael Falbo as the lead investigator, Harris said.
