Edy Morales, 41, of William Street, was struck in the head by a brick thrown by someone in a group standing in front of a two-family home just after 8:30 p.m., police said.
It is believed there was some kind of confrontation between the people in the car and the group, which began throwing rocks and a brick at the car, smashing the windshield and the passenger window, police said.
The driver rushed Morales to Bridgeport Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
It is not known yet whether the people in the car knew the group or whether the incident was gang related, said Av Harris, Bridgeport’s director of communications.
