BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Two Bridgeport police officers who spotted smoke and flames coming from a window rushed into a burning multifamily house on Clinton Avenue on Thursday morning to alert residents to get out, according to the Connecticut Post.

Officer Angel Vasquez Jr., who was patrolling the schools, got out of his police car and ran in while School Resource Officer Al Cesar ran from Bassick High to help, the Post said.

Firefighters said the residents got out safely, but three children were reportedly receiving medical attention, the Post said.

The fire was knocked down in about a half-hour, the Post said.
