BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A New Haven man was arrested in the theft of a car in the Hollow over the weekend, Bridgeport police said.
At about 5:15 p.m. Sunday, police dispatch advised officers that a black 2012 Honda Civic had been reported stolen.
Upon receiving the report, a police officer spotted the vehicle in question near the corner of Washington Avenue and Catherine Street.
The officer followed the Honda in his patrol vehicle while traveling east on Washington Avenue, police said. The officer followed the Honda as it made a left turn onto the Route 8/25 northbound on-ramp. The police officer and responding units stopped the Honda at the top of the on-ramp before it entered Route 8/25, police said.
Both the driver, Alex Bermudez, 19, of New Haven, and the front passenger were taken into custody without incident, police said. Bermudez was charged with larceny. Bond was set at $10,000.
