BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Four people — two adults and two juveniles — were arrested on gun charges after a traffic stop, the Bridgeport Police Department said.

On Monday, Nov. 9, police officers pulled over a vehicle at Housatonic Avenue and North Washington Avenue for speeding and lacking proper registration, police said.

During the stop of the 2001 Volkswagen, officers noticed that the driver – Daniel Joel Rosario Jr., 20, of Derby -- wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, police said.

When officer asked whether anyone in the vehicle was on parole or probation, three said “no,” police said. But Elijah Ceesay, 19, of Bridgeport, said he was out on bond on a gun charge, police said.

After asking Rosario and Ceesay to step out of the car and searching them, an officer using a flashlight spotted the handle of a handgun sticking out from the floor mat of the rear right seat, which is where Ceesay had been sitting, police said.

A further search determined that the gun underneath the floor mat was a black handgun with a brown handle, police said. Officers also found a second handgun — silver with a black handle — in the driver’s seat rear flap compartment, police said.

All four occupants of the vehicle were arrested.

Rosario was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle, and was issued an infraction for motor vehicle offenses. Bond was set at $10,000.

Ceesay was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, weapons in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of ammo, and violation of conditions of release. Bond was set at $150,000.

One juvenile passenger was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle, and issued a misdemeanor summons and received a promise to appear bond.

A second juvenile passenger was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, weapons in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a firearm and theft of a firearm, and was issued a misdemeanor summons. Bond information is unavailable.

The second juvenile is on parole, and has pleaded guilty to a serious juvenile offense, police said.
