BRIDGEPORT, Conn.. – Bridgeport police officers received aid from local residents when investigating a home break-in on Quinlan Avenue on Thursday afternoon.
When officers responded to the first call, witnesses said the suspects were still in the house, police said. But other witnesses said that the suspects had left the house and were fleeing east through neighbor's yards before the officers arrived, police said.
Police and K-9 units were able to locate 29-year old Michael J. Fernandez in a yard on Garden Terrace, while the other suspect eluded arrest but was identified by those at the scene, who are now working with the Detective Bureau, police said.
Fernandez, 29, of Oxford, was taken into custody, police said.
All items taken in the burglary were recovered and returned to the rightful owners.
