BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A shooting death that took place in Bridgeport in July may have been connected to an altercation between the victim and the suspect that took place in Virginia, according to the Connecticut Post.
Richard Evans, 37, of Bridgeport was arrested on Thursday and charged with murder, criminal possession of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit. The arrest stems from the July 2 shooting death of 44-year-old Reginald May outside May's home on Alice Street.
Evans and May both worked for a moving company and were down in Virginia in June as part of a job, according to the Connecticut Post. While they were there, they got in a fight over money, and May punched Evans in the face, the Connecticut Post reported. At that point, Evans made a comment that witnesses believed meant he was going to retaliate, police told the Connecticut Post.
Police said that Evans lured May out of his home by setting of a car alarm. When May went out to investigate, Evans opened fire at him from a neighboring yard, according to police.
