BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport Mayor Joesph Ganim proved he could do squats and push ups along with the best of them when he threw off his suit and donned worked out clothes to get in some early morning exercise alongside the 29 new Bridgeport Police recruits at Seaside Park.
"Very inspiring visit today with the future of Bridgeport's police department! This is one of the most diverse police recruit classes the city has ever seen," Ganim wrote in a Facebook post.
"It is a class that wants to form a positive relationship between the police department and our communities and neighborhoods. And after working out with the class at Seaside Park this morning I can say they are in great shape! We are very proud of you and thankful that you have chosen to serve your community and protect the city as law enforcement officers."
