BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Bridgeport resident was shot on the front porch of a home on the city's East End on Tuesday night and sustained leg and hand injuries, police said.
Abdul Nelson suffered injuries to his upper left leg, lower right leg, and two fingers on the left hand, police said. Bridgeport police received a call reporting the shooting, which occurred near the intersection of Newfield Avenue and Stratford Avenue, at 10:53 p.m., police said.
Nelson was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Nelson told police that he did not know where the shots came from. Two witnesses near Nelson said they heard three to four shots fired from in the direction of Stratford Avenue and Newfield Avenue and then saw a vehicle take off, police said.
Bridgeport Police are asking the public to call Detective John Tenn at 203-581-5243 with any information regarding the shooting.
