BRIDGEPORT, CONN. -- A 28-year-old Bridgeport man is facing charges after lighting an M-80 explosive in his home that injured him and his brother on New Year's Eve, according to the Connecticut Post.
Joseph Lopez lost one hand and part of another in the explosion, the Post said. Officers arriving at the home on Maplewood Avenue found broken windows and blood throughout the kitchen, the Post reported.
Lopez's brother was also taken to the hospital for possible injuries to his eardrums, the Post said. Lopez is due in court Jan. 21 to face first-degree reckless endangerment, possession of an explosive device and risk of injury to a child, the Post said.
