BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A 2-year-old child struck by a vehicle Monday night at the intersection of Pearl and Park streets in Bridgeport was improving on Tuesday, a city spokesman said.
The child was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, and was listed in fair condition on Tuesday, city spokesman Kevin Coughlin said.
The child’s mother said that the 2-year-old "was in the backyard of their home playing, and must have snuck out," Coughlin said in a statement.
The child’s mother did not witness the accident, he said.
The driver of the vehicle was issued an infraction for operating without a license, he said.
