Ward N. Colbree, 83, Retired Bridgeport Police Officer

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Ward N. Colbree, husband of Lorraine A. Labonda Colbree, died Thursday, Dec. 15, in his home in Bridgeport, He was 83.

He was born in Bridgeport, son of Nathaniel and Alice Ward Colbree. 

Colbree was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War. 

He retired from the Bridgeport Police Department in 1986 after 27 years of service, and went on to be a 911 dispatcher for the Town of Weston for 20 years. 

He was a life member of VFW Post 9460 in Stratford and the Bridgeport Elks Lodge No. 36. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Diane M. Cassella and husband Louis of Milford, Brian S. Colbree of Layton, Utah, and David S. Colbree and wife Jacquelyn of Stratford; four grandchildren Erik Cassella and fiancée Victoria, Tracy Cassella, Sean Colbree, and KatieAnn Colbree; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by daughter Deborah A. Colbree; daughter-in-law DeeAnn Colbree; and grandchild Keegan Colbree. 

Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m., in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport.
