Joseph M. Tatroe Sr., 95, Bridgeport Resident

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport resident Joseph Tatroe Sr. died Sunday, Jan. 24. He was 95.

Born in Wayland, Mass., Tatroe and his brother James were raised by the late William and Gertrude Haller. A U.S. Army veteran, he was in the 83rd Infantry Division and received several medals and awards.

A carpenter by trade, Tatroe was a member of the Regional Council of Carpenters Local 210, and he recently was honored as a 70-year member.

He was survived by his children, Joann Bagley and her husband William of Milford, Robert Tatroe and his wife Karen of Chandler, Ariz., Joseph Tatroe Jr. and his wife Jayne of Ansonia, and James Tatroe and Linda Silk of Norwalk; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and siblings Chuck Haller and Bobbie-Jean McLaughlin.

Tatroe was predeceased by his wife, Florence Solemene Tatroe; parents Arnold and Lillian Belle Tatroe; and siblings, Arnold and James Tatroe, Marty Haller, Lillian and Marion Cotaling and Gertrude Haller.

Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Funeral services will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30 at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew Church in Bridgeport. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery in Stratford.
