BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Iva Mae "Nanny" Stiles Discepolo, a longtime resident of Bridgeport, died on Monday, March 7. She was 94.
Born on a farm in Kane, Pennsylvania, Discepolo was one of eight children.
"Iva enjoyed taking care of her roses and feeding the fish in her backyard pond, making peanut butter fudge and loving all her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Nanny," according to information from the funeral home.
Discepolo is survived by her daughter, Patricia Formato and her husband Angelo of Bridgeport; sister Helen Steinfurth of Colorado; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Frances Ann Ezzo; husband Anthony; and parents Ray and Carrie Faulkroyd Stiles.
Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, in the Dennis & D'Arcy-Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St., in Stratford. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 11, at the funeral home, with Deacon Raymond Chervenak officiating. Burial will follow at Kings Highway Cemetery, in Milford.
