Gallin was born in 1929. She was a lifelong member of the St. Augustine Church and was involved in The St. Monica Guild, Ladies Auxiliary and the PTA. She was a 50 year member of Bonnie Briar Country Club where she was president of the Ladies Golf Committee and the Ladies Bowling League. Nel was also a lifelong member of the Manor Park Society.
Gallin is survived by her children, Ann Marie (Thomas Ruddick), Connie (Michael Cotroneo), Michael, Maureen (William Heath), Christopher (Nancy), Joseph, Thomas Jr. (Ally) and Robert (Gertrude); 16 grandchildren; siblings, twin Nora Winkle, Florrie Feurbach, Patrick Collins and Lawrence Collins; sister-in-law, Sr. Alice Gallin OSU. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas P. Gallin; daughter-in-law, Margaret; and sister, Jean Marie Mendes.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Dec. 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 18 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19 at St. Augustine Church in Larchmont. Interment at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye.
