BRIDGEPORT, Conn.— Frederick E. Hoyt Jr., of Bridgeport, died Thursday, March 3, at Hewitt Health & Rehab. He was 83.
Hoyt was born in Bridgeport, son of Frederick and Elizabeth Velky Hoyt, and was a lifelong area resident.
He retired as an electrician with Local Union 488 IBEW and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War.
Hoyt was a member of the America-St John's Masonic Lodge #8 in Stratford and a choir member of both the Harugari German Club, West Haven and Arbeiter Manner German Club in New Haven. He was a former member of the Port 5 Naval Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Neubauer Hoyt; sons Robert F. Hoyt and wife Mary, Richard S. Hoyt and wife Dianna, David E. Hoyt and wife Ann, and Scott A. Hoyt and wife Adrienne; two sisters Peggy Lesko and Connie Higgins; and 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
A Masonic ritual will be performed at 5 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home at 6 p.m., with the Most Rev. Rocco Florenza, Bishop of the Anglican Church of the Resurrection, officiating.
