BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Dorothy Zabaska Stewart, of Bridgeport, died Wednesday, Jan. 13. She was 87.
She was raised in St. Albans, Vt., and married and moved to Stamford where she and and her husband, Judson R. Stewart, raised their five children. She devoted her time to her young family.
Later in life, she enjoyed her position as a cashier at Thormes Pharmacy in Stamford, where she worked for many years. She loved dogs and cats, with Rayadh as her favorite. While visiting her daughter in Florida, Disney World became one of her favorite destinations.
She is survived by her five children, Linda Ariano and her husband, Richard, of Trumbull, Mark Stewart of Bridgeport, Russell Stewart of Fairfield, John Stewart of Cape Cod, Mass., and Anne Stewart of Windermere, Fla.; daughter-in-law Carol Heron Stewart; grandchildren Deanna Tart, and her husband, Keen; and Russell Stewart, Jr., and his wife, Lindsay; and great-grandchildren Amelia Tart, and Eva and Jordyn Stewart.
In addition to her husband, Judson, she was predeceased by her parents, Alfred Zabaska Sr. and Mary Zabaska; a brother, Alfred Zabaska Jr.; and great-granddaughter Sophie Tart.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrate Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment will be private.
