BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Dimas Couto, 58, of Bridgeport, the beloved husband of Claudia (Costa) Couto, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2015 in Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born Aril 15, 1957, in Vila do Conde, Portugal, he was the son of Joaquim Lopes Couto and Albertina Borges Couto.
He had a love and passion for soccer and helping the youth obtain scholarships and restoring historical homes on the east side of Bridgeport. He loved to coach soccer and was the head coach for the Harding High School boys' soccer team.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Gabriella Couto and James Couto, his mother, Albertina Borges Couto, his three sisters, Maria (Lula) Couto, Helia (Ellie) Goncalves and husband Manuel, Cristina Couto, his mother and father-in-law, Antonio and Maria Costa, a sister-in-law, Sindi DeGroat and husband Sean, and several nieces, nephews aunts, cousins and many friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Joaquim Lopes Couto and a sister, Odette Couto.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Augustine Cathedral, 359 Washington Ave., Bridgeport with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday with a Maranatha Christian Service at 7 p.m. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport.
