Two Bridgeport Men Plead Guilty In Countywide Robbery Spree

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Two men from Bridgeport pleaded guilty in federal court to their roles in a string of robberies in the Park City as well as in Fairfield and Westport, the U.S. attorney said.

Deirdre M. Daly, U.S. attorney for Connecticut, announced Wednesday that Lancelot Supersad, 19, and Anthony Santiago, 21, pleaded guilty in Bridgeport federal court to conspiring to commit multiple robberies.

According to court documents and statements made in court, the crime spree included these incidents:

  • On April 26, Supersad and others committed an armed robbery of the CVS Pharmacy on Grasmere Avenue in Fairfield, stealing $2,376.
  • On May 3, Supersad and others attempted an armed robbery of the Mobil Gas station on Noble Avenue in Bridgeport.
  • On May 10, Supersad and others committed an armed robbery of a Webster Bank branch on Main Street in Bridgeport, stealing $4,170.
  • On June 1, Supersad and others committed an armed robbery of a Pizza Hut on Boston Avenue in Bridgeport, stealing $250.
  • On June 26, Supersad, Santiago and others committed an armed robbery of the Residence Inn on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton, stealing $200.
  • On July 2, Supersad, Santiago and others attempted an armed robbery of the Sikorsky Financial Credit Union on Oronoque Lane in Stratford.
  • Also on July 2, Supersad, Santiago and others committed an armed robbery of the TD Bank on Post Road East in Westport.

Supersad and Santiago have been in custody since their arrests on July 2 in Westport in the hours after the TD Bank robbery. 

On Monday, Supersad waived his right to indictment and pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to affect commerce by robbery, which carries a maximum prison term of 20 years.

Santiago waived his right to indictment and pleaded guilty to the same charge Wednesday.

This case has been assigned to Chief U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall in New Haven. The sentencing dates are not yet scheduled.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Westport, Shelton, Fairfield, Stratford, and Bridgeport Police Departments. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Felice M. Duffy.
