Authorities accused Christopher Plaskon, 18, of stabbing and killing Maren Sanchez, who was going to attend the prom with another boy, CT Post reported.

State prosecutors recommended a 25-year sentence, but since Plaskon was only 16 at the time of the crime, he will be eligible for parole after serving 60 percent of the sentence, or 15 years. The two years Plaskon has served will count toward his sentence, CT Post said.
