Starting on Monday, Nov. 16, Metro-North commuters will no longer need to change trains at the Devon transfer point. Months of work there has been completed, and Waterbury Branch customers will resume making the transfer at the Bridgeport station.

A new train schedule will also go into effect Monday along the Waterbury Branch.

Devon Bridge repairs had closed the transfer point and necessitated the temporary Devon transfer point.

This was the final phase of a $5.8 million priority-repair project on the Devon Bridge.

Track 3 has been out of service for six months while the bridge work was done.

Undertaken by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) and Metro-North, the Devon Bridge work involved steel repairs, a new wooden deck and new miter rails on the Track 3 span. Its completion is a prerequisite to the next and final phase of CTDOT's overhead catenary wire replacement project.

Over the past year, CTDOT has worked with Metro-North to ensure that this work would occur with the least customer impact possible. This project also helps ensure the future reliability of the Waterbury Branch as Devon Track 3 is critical to providing the main line connection at Bridgeport.
