BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Repair work will continue on Route 8 in Bridgeport from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays through Oct. 19, the Connecticut Department of Transportation announced.

Motorists traveling south on Routes 8 and 25 can expect lane closures between the Route 8/25 merge and Exit 3 for Main Street. Motorists traveling north on the Route 8/25 connector can expect lane closures between Exit 2 for Lafayette Square and Exit 5 for Boston Avenue. Traffic control personnel and signs will be used to guide motorists through the work zone.

The nighttime pavement joint repairs is the initial phase of the ongoing Design Build project involving the rehabilitation of four bridges that Route 8 over Capital Avenue and Lindley Street in Bridgeport, ConnDOT said.

This project is part of a ConnDOT initiatives program promoting the use of innovative contracting and construction techniques. In addition to the use of Design Build contracting, the project will use Accelerated Bridge Construction methods that will shorten the overall duration of the project, while at the same time minimizing the impacts to the traveling public.

Additional project information can be found on the project website .

Additional lane closure information can be found on the department’s interactive map at www.cttravelinfomap.

The work schedule may be modified or changed due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.

DOT Project No. 15-363 was awarded to the Design Build team of Manafort Brothers Inc. of Plainville and Parsons Brinkerhoff on March 27 for $34.752 million. The official start date was  May 11 with an anticipated completion date of July 25, 2016.
