In April, Michael Patota stepped into the role of president and CEO, bringing with him more than 20 years of clinical and administrative expertise to the position.

Before joining the organization, Patota served for 14 years as division director of clinical services at United Services, where he was responsible for the oversight of a comprehensive array of outpatient behavioral health programs serving Northeastern Connecticut. Additionally, he has worked extensively with the Latino community in a variety of clinical settings.

“We in the midst of exciting transition at The Child and Family Guidance Center.” Patota said. “We need to make a shift in our funding mix in order to expand our evidence-based programs and fully support our talented staff. A remarkable 92 percent of our funding comes from government sources. We will strive to maintain these needed revenue streams, and but also look to build partnerships with private foundations, individual donors, and local businesses, as well as explore fee-for-service revenue. We are looking to form true partnerships in our community.”

CFGC’s 2015 annual report highlights that 90 percent of the people they serve live in poverty and 68 percent of their clients belong to a minority group.

“The operating environment of behavioral health non-profit organizations is in the midst of dramatic change. We are embracing this change to ensure that we can continue to serve a population in dire need of mental health supports that are both high quality and no—or low—cost to the client,” he added.

For nearly a century, the mission of The Child and Family Guidance Center has been to address the emotional and psychological well-being of children and their families. Over the last year alone, CFGC served over 3,100 children and families. CFGC’s main office is in Bridgeport, and also has clinics in Fairfield, Norwalk, and Stratford.
