BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County’s (Habitat CFC) Youth United fourth sponsored house is nearly complete and a house dedication will be conducted from 2:30-4 p.m. Saturday rain or shine at 84 Maple St., Bridgeport.

Youth United is a program focused on giving youth (ages 5-22) from different backgrounds the opportunity to work together to sponsor and build a house with Habitat CFC. The program develops youth leaders by teaching them new skills to raise money, publicize and build a home for a family in their community. The Youth United group raised more than $60,000 toward the building of the Maple Street house. To date, Habitat CFC’s Youth United program has paid for and helped build four homes in Bridgeport. Earlier this year, the group started its fifth house.

The future Habitat homeowners will be Hattie and Wesley Pamphile along with their children Xzavier, Jael, Destinee and Jazmyn. In his wildest dreams, Wesley Pamphile could not have known that his position at Kohl’s as a supervisor would introduce him to Habitat CFC’s Youth United Program and ultimately to Habitat CFC’s Future Homeowner Program. What started out as a request by Youth United for Kohl’s gift cards and interest in Kohl’s Cares for Kids Program has led to his family being selected for Youth United’s fourth house.

The dedication will include a brief program, including the presentation of gifts, the Habitat tradition of blessing of the house and the homeowners’ remarks. After the ceremony, the family will welcome attendees to join them for refreshments as they “break bread” for the first time in their new home.

Habitat for Humanity of CFC builds communities and improves lives by eliminating substandard housing and creating homeownership possibilities for families of low-income. Habitat CFC has a 30-year history throughout the region.
