BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Registration is open for participants who want to give homeless people a leg up through the Step Up for the Brave Stadium Stair Climb set for Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport.

Proceeds from the Stadium Stair Climb event will go to Homes for the Brave, an organization that finds housing for homeless people, mainly veterans. Registration costs $35 per person, but early bird registration is $25 through Sept. 1.

The stair climbing course in the stadium is 1,000 steps for one time through. Participants can set their own goals, or work as part of a team. The registration fee also includes a t-shirt and a light breakfast, officials said

In addition to the climb, there will be family activities and games on the ballfield from 9-11 a.m. on Sept. 24, followed by an awards ceremony. It all takes place at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard, 500 Main St., Bridgeport.
