BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- American Medical Response of Fairfield County has purchased 35 new life-saving defibrillators for use in the greater Fairfield and Bridgeport communities.
These Lifepak 15 monitor/defibrillators bought from Physio-Control and the paramedic training on these devices equals an investment of nearly $1 million by the company in the local community.
It will enable AMR to provide quicker treatment to patients, and ultimately, to save more lives from cardiac emergencies.
AMR provides 911 Paramedic ambulance service to the residents and visitors of Fairfield and Bridgeport.
This investment enables all AMR Paramedic ambulances to carry defibrillators.
"In particular, we can continuously monitor 12-lead ECGs right in the field or in the ambulance during transport," said Bill Schietinger, Regional Director of AMR.
"This enables early diagnosis and initiation of treatment protocols for patients experiencing a heart attack, for example. Early identification in the field saves precious time for these patients, reducing overall time to treatment, making this a very meaningful investment in the health and safety of our community.”
The LIFEPAK 15 monitor/defibrillator provides both therapeutic and diagnostic functions all in one device that can easily be carried to the patient’s side.
Used in both hospitals and the field, it is an innovative medical device for cardiac and medical emergencies.
