Your Mother Wants You To Eat: Kosher Food Truck Coming To Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. -- There are food trucks and then there's the kosher food truck.

Somewhere, your mom (or grandmother) is kvelling.

Fairfield County residents will be treated to the delicacies of The Chosen Cholent --  pulled smoked brisket, smoked fried chicken, smoked short ribs, and of course, cholent (a traditional Shabbat stew) -- at the first-ever Southern Connecticut Jewish Food Festival being held Sunday, June 11 at Westport’s Temple Israel.

Rabbi Adam Gindea, the owner/pitmaster of the West Orange, N.J.- based truck, operates under the Vaad Harabonim of Metro West and has a Mashgiach (rabbinic supervision) with him at all events.

He said he's the only kosher meat food truck in New Jersey, and one of only a handful in the country. It's a fairly new business --  he's been doing this since September 2016 while teaching full time as a Judaic studies teacher at Golda Och Academy in West Orange.

Due to his commitments teaching, he mostly works fairs, festivals, and private events. Though he has no "set spot" to operate out of, he's open --and hopeful -- to be hired by Shuls, JCC's or any other type of organization interested in setting up a regular food truck appearance.
